Senior Hannah Benavides pitched back to back shut outs for Deer Park High to win the Texas 6A Softball Championship. In the semi-final game against Flower Mound Benavides threw a 3 hitter and struck out 7. The was scoreless until Emma Overla hit a lead off double. Deer Park score 2 runs in the inning and held on for a 2–0 victory. Overla went 2 for 4 with a run scored and Tabatha Bailey score the other run. Flower Mound held the Deer to just 2 hits; but solid pitching by Hannah Benavides got the win.
In the championship game Benavides scatted six hits for Judson batters and struck out 6. Deer Park also had six hits in the game. The title game was a defensive and pitching battle with both teams held scoreless unit the sixth inning. Deer Park got a pair of singles from Haidyn Hardcastle and Erin Perez drove in Raeanna Nieman who came in to pinch run for the only run of the game.
Judson stranded 8 runners on base in the game including loading the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out in the inning Mimi Thornton and Lauryn Ramos both singled and Emily Ayala drew a walk. Benavides would strike out the next Rockets batter and Samara Sanchez filed out to center field to end the inning. Benavides retired the side in order in the seventh inning for her 20th victory of the season and Deer Park the Texas 6A Softball Championship.
