Texas 6A defending champion Duncanville High 27–2 plays Klein Oak 17–9 today at Buffalo High School starting at 6pm. The Pantherettes won their last 29 games in a row last season beating Cypress Creek 63–47 in title game and finished 40–3.
This season Duncanville is 27–2 with a 6 game winning streak heading into tonight’s game. Duncanville routed Ellison 104–32 in the first round and out scored Horn by 30 (82–52) in the second round of the 6A Region 1&2 playoffs. On Thursday the Pantherettes beat Cedar Hill 78–63 to advance to todays game.
Klein Oak has won their last 3 and had a 9 game winning streak snapped by Tomball Memorial 56–52 on the last regular season game. Klein Oak has edged out each playoff opponent by 5 points or less. Klein Oak beat Bridgeland by 3 in the first round 37–34; then Spring High by 5 on Monday 43–38.
Thursday Klein Oak came from behind to defeat Cypress Springs 40–39. Cypress Springs outscored Klein Oak 25–20 in the first half. Klein Oak tightened their defense in the second half and held Cypress Springs to just 14 points for the victory.
In other Texas 6A playoff action:
DeSoto 25–2 defeated Langham Creek 74–41 yesterday to advance to the State Semi-Final round to be held March 5th and 6th. The Eagles have won their last 5 games in a row and defeated Duncanville in both of their regular season games.
Keller High 22–6 plays South Grand Prairie 23–3 today in the regional round. Keller beat Boswell 72–61 in the first round and routed Franklin 65–19 in the second. The Indians defeated North Crowley 76–66 Thursday to play in todays game. South Grand Prairie brings an 18 game winning streak into tonight’s game. The Warriors went 12–0 in Region 1 District 8 regular season games. South Grand Prairie blew out Lake Highlands 81–14 in the first round; then beat Allen 61–45 last Saturday in the second. On Wednesday the Indians beat Plano 60–51 in the third round.
